Battlefield Portal, often called Portal Sandbox
Looking for the Roblox game? It is on the home page. This page is the other hit: Battlefield Portal. EA's hub calls it "a massive sandbox where creators and players can push Battlefield to the limit." The words "Portal Sandbox" do not appear as a product name in the EA articles I used. A Steam discussion says a roadmap listed Portal Sandbox under REDSEC. I keep that as a community reading.
Who can open it
| Door | Price named by EA | What you get | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battlefield 6 | US $69.99 standard list price | Portal for owners, beside multiplayer and campaign | Portal 101, 10 Oct 2025 |
| REDSEC | Free | Portal sandbox in Fort Lyndon, plus Gauntlet, battle royale, and verified modes | REDSEC overview and season 1 roadmap |
| BF6 owners in REDSEC | Already own BF6 | EA says they can use REDSEC Portal content | Season 1 roadmap |
Verified modes versus custom
Portal 101 and the verified-experiences article split the work in two. Verified modes change official modes and keep full progression. Custom Portal uses the SDK and the rules editor. Custom sessions do not award the usual career or hardware experience. They award a higher per-match completion amount instead. Launch verified templates named in the article are Conquest, Rush, and Breakthrough. The advanced article dates a Godot SDK and TypeScript rules to 14 Apr 2026.
Building a server
- Open Portal Builder on the web and sign in with an EA account. EA's help article is the step list.
- Set the server name. A password and a persistent server are optional settings the same article names.
- Pick a mode or a custom ruleset. Max players can be set. EA does not print a single cap in the pages I read.
- Submit. The help article says review takes about three hours.
- Play it from Battlefield. This website does not host the builder and does not log into EA.
Fort Lyndon is the map name in the REDSEC overview. The Steam thread's claim that maps later gained a "must own Battlefield 6" tag is one community post from 9 Dec 2025. I do not treat it as an EA patch note. A Reddit thread from before launch includes a hope for 100-player servers. That number is a commenter's expectation. It is not on the EA pages.
